THE CHALLENGE
Industrias Haceb is a Colombian manufacturer of domestic appliances. Looking to develop a new range of freestanding refrigerators, Haceb turned to WAACS for our experience in designing and developing cooling and refrigeration appliances.
The challenge was to create a new product design specifically for the South American market that could be produced within Haceb’s existing manufacturing facility and production processes.
OUR APPROACH
WAACS travelled to Haceb’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Medellín, Colombia, to understand both the local market and how the company produces its appliances.
Together with Haceb’s design and marketing teams, we explored the local retail landscape, brand positioning and consumer expectations. At the factory, we studied the existing production processes, manufacturing capabilities and technical constraints that would directly influence the new refrigerator design.
This gave us a clear framework: develop a product that feels specifically designed for Haceb and its market, while making effective use of the manufacturing capabilities already in place.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING
Based on these insights, WAACS developed a range of freestanding refrigerator designs tailored to Haceb’s existing production environment.
Rather than developing a concept that would require an entirely new manufacturing setup, product design and engineering decisions were made with Haceb’s current processes and capabilities in mind.
Our experience developing global appliance platforms helped us combine product identity, user experience and international appliance design knowledge with technical feasibility and manufacturability at Haceb’s facility.
THE RESULT
The result is a range of refrigerator designs developed specifically for Haceb, its manufacturing capabilities and the South American market.
The project demonstrates how WAACS integrates product design and engineering with an understanding of real production environments—helping manufacturers develop market-specific products that can be produced within their existing facilities.
